AS I'M SURE VIEWERS ARE AWARE, OUR NATION AND WORLD ARE FACING SOME OF THE GREATEST CHALLENGES AND PROBLEMS OF LIFETIMES.
FROM POLITICS TO THE ECONOMY, IT FEELS AS THOUGH EVERYTHING IS BREAKING DOWN.
PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED.
THEY ARE ANGRY.
AND RIGHTFULLY SO.
I WANTED TO COME HERE TONIGHT TO SAY, I'M SORRY.
I KEEP LOOKING AROUND AT ALL THE PROBLEMS AND I JUST THINK THESE HAVE GOT TO BE PARTIALLY, IF NOT LARGELY MY FAULT.
LOOK AT THE PRICE OF GOODS.
SEEMS LIKE THE PRICE OF EGGS GOES UP EVERY TIME YOU GO TO THE GROCERY STORE.
I PERSONALLY EAT TWO EGGS EVERY SINGLE MORNING!
CAN'T BE ELPING.
SO WHEN YOU SEE HIGH EGG PRICES AT THE GROCERY STORE YOU SHOULD SAY, THANKS A LOT, TANE.
PEOPLE ARE RIGHTFULLY DISCONTENT WITH THE BREAKDOWN OF OUR CIVIL DISCOURSE, IT SEEMS LIKE NOBODY CAN TALK TO EACH OTHER ANYMORE.
YOU KNOW WHAT?
I WAS A COMMUNICATIONS STUDIES MAJOR IN COLLEGE.
IT SEEMS LIKE I SHOULD HAVE FIXED THAT BY NOW!
YET OUR DISCOURSE HAS ONLY SEEMED TO GET WORSE IN THE TIME THAT I'VE BEEN ALIVE.
SO AGAIN.
[ WHISPERING ] I'M SORRY.
AND IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT NATIONAL ISSUES.
THERE ARE PEOPLE WATCHING RIGHT NOW WHO ARE ESTRANGED FROM THEIR FAMILIES.
AND YOU KNOW WHAT?
I DON'T EVEN KNOW MOST OF YOUR FAMILIES, SO I CERTAINLY COULDN'T HAVE HELPED WITH ANY OF THAT.
AND WHAT ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE?
I AM LITERALLY PUMPING OUT CO2 JUST STANDING HERE RIGHT NOW, SO WHEN THE EARTH GETS TOO HOT TO SUSTAIN HUMANS, YOU CAN BLAME TANE DANGER.
A LOT OF PEOPLE GET MAD BECAUSE THE MEDIA DOESN'T COVER THE IMPORTANT ISSUES.
THERE ARE PEOPLE WATCHING THE TV RIGHT NOW AND THEY ARE THINKING THIS ENTIRE ESSAY IS A WASTE OF TIME THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SPENT ON SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT!
AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE YOUR FRUSTRATIONS ABOUT THE WORLD AND POTENTIALLY HOW I, TANE DANGER AM MAKING THEM WORSE, PLEASE SEND A LETTER TO TANE DANGER, CARE OF TWIN CITIES PUBLIC TELEVISION 172 EAST FOURTH STREET, ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, 55101.
I WILL DO MY BEST TO RESPOND TO EACH LETTER WITH A PERSONAL APOLOGY.
THOUGH, CONSIDERING THE VOLUME OF THINGS GOING ON IN THE WORLD, MY RESPONSES WILL PROBABLY BE SLOW, SO, AGAIN, I AM SORRY.
THE NEXT TIME THAT YOU ARE FRUSTRATED ABOUT SOMETHING GOING ON IN THE WORLD, JUST REMEMBER, IT'S NOT EVERYBODY ELSE'S FAULT.
IT'S MINE.
TANE DANGER.
