The North Fork Valley includes Paonia and Hotchkiss and Crawford.
So that's kind of where I try to source my food from.
My name is Sarah Peterson and I run the Paonia Food Movement.
So the Paonia Food Movement is akin to a CSA, in that you're getting fresh food from farmers, but there is no subscription so I wanted to give people a little more flexibility as far as being able to pick exactly what they want and a bigger variety.
Each of these farms usually has like a little farm stand.
So I started just like driving around to each little farm stand and like getting my chicken and then going and getting my greens that kind of opened my eyes up to you really can feed yourself almost entirely.
with local food.
Hey, hey picking up for the Paonia Food Movement.
So Western Culture, they are my cheese people.
Its all goat cheese.
So they've got chevre and feta and farm cheese and they make it on their farm.
Okay, be good.
[Goats braying] So I'm building relationships with all the farmers in this valley.
And then I take their food over to the Roaring Fork Valley and I kind of am a conduit for the story of their food.
Every week I put out a newsletter and that tends to be when people start ordering And then I do my drive around, my fresh food scavenger hunt I like to think of it like We're going to go to four farms within, like, maybe a three mile radius here.
Trevor at Figure Eight Farming he's my main green supplier.
So we grow year round, which is very exciting.
We've got these four lovely greenhouses that kind of protect us from the elements, protect us from high desert weather.
I'm Trevor Donovan So I'm the head grower and the business owner of Figure Eight Farming.
So thats lettuce, that's kale that's arugala, that's spinach, that's Joy Choi.
Paonia Food Movement is one of our fantastic distributors that brings things over to the Roaring Fork.
So I wanted to kind of highlight all the things that the valley is producing beyond just vegetables.
I can facilitate this experience of eating locally for other people.
I'll do the driving and I'll bring it to them in a nice little box.
