Classic skiing is what most people think of when they think of cross-country skiing and it looks a little bit like running on skis.
It's beautiful, long strides.
Skate skiing is a little bit newer type of technique.
It's very much like ice skating where you're going side to side on skis.
I like it because it's faster.
We get an abundance of snowfall up here.
We also don't quite get the same melt, freeze, melt thaw that other mountain ranges get.
Snow stays cold, it stays consistent.
The Nordic Council was founded in 1990 so we are entering our 35th year.
We run, administer, maintain, groom all the cross-country ski trails on the Grand Mesa.
The Nordic Council really takes care of these trails.
There's a great variety of trails from super beginner friendly to long loops that can take you all day all of those factors combined I think make it pretty incredible.
I have never found a place that I love as much as skiing on the Grand Mesa.
Its my favorite skiing in the whole world.
