This is like where I go to forget all of the things and it's really hard to focus on anything but what you're doing, while you're skating.
I don't think I've ever found something like this this is really a team sport.
Hockey is beautiful because it is on ice.
It is the fastest team sport in the world.
So it's moving and flowing and it's it's changing all the time.
It was something I always wanted to do.
so I started playing and then slowly but surely added added one friend, two friends, three friends.
they put the goals out there and put the pucks out there so you can come and practice your game a little bit.
I mostly know River City for the adult league hockey that they run.
Adult league is broken up into four separate leagues A, B, C, and D corresponding to, like, level.
So the best players in A and then the newest players in the D league.
We play in C league and there's six different teams As soon as you try it you almost become addicted to playing hockey.
Now Im not sure if Im doing this right.
I've known a lot of these kids for a long time.
And the hockey was pretty obvious I was going to join the team.
I've coached a lot of hockey and played a little bit of hockey.
Go Rick!
Good block!
I tried playing once when I was in seventh grade didn't go too well and hadn't played since until 2022, when our friends got us into it.
My brother in law invited me to the team so I'm very happy for that.
It's been, extraordinary to come in I've never actually had a friend group like this that's been welcoming from the onset.
I don't think I would be having as much fun on a different team.
We've had our highs and lows.
We've won the league two or three times.
We've gotten last place two or three times but I would say there's definitely a higher level of competition now.
We're up 5-0, so it's going pretty good.
We got a bunch of new players, and we're all gelling pretty good honestly.
Six total players on the ice five of those are skaters, one goalie.
We do have some dynamics where we set up like, Quinton, Jonny and Karl are all going to rotate on this position.
You're moving really fast so there's not set plays there's responsibilities.
So that's how it flows.
You've got three forwards, two defensemen.
The goalie is your last line of defense.
to cover what the other team is bringing at you.
Hockey to me is really more about having each other's back.
You make great friends because you go to battle together.
I would say we're the closest knit group of friends out of all the teams, and I think that's what makes it most fun for me.
It's not what holds us all together it's just a commonality that we all have.
And the camaraderie we have out there also translates into our friendship.
I never thought I'd be playing on a 6 team league and having as much fun as I am in Junction.
The community aspect of it is great.
