Critics say measures will fuel racial injustice

In Trenton, Democratic lawmakers are promoting a "tough-on-crime" message that has some of the party's progressive base wondering whose side they're on. On Monday, bills that would increase penalties for fentanyl possession, distribution and manufacturing and that would raise penalties for burglary and motor vehicle theft went before Senate committees.
