we are constantly moving animals to different grazing units we set up a lot of electrical temporary fences around the area and consistently move the cows.

And as a result, the city is actually paying u to perform these, this service Last year was the first year that we piloted using prescriptive grazing in areas west of Boulder, And this year we've increased the scale and the size of the project quite a lot.

in this current phase of the project, we're treating between 60 and 70 acres.

Before I came to work for the city, I was a firefighter on the Marshall Fire and that was a major realization for a lot of professionals in wildfire management that grass fire risk is something that carried a lot more threat than I think we appreciated before I saw firsthand just how dramatically fire behavior change when it transitioned from areas where the grasses weren't being managed, to agricultural pastures where grazing was happening, it's well known and well established that modifying the characteristics in grass has a very major change on the kind of fire behavior that takes place when an area burns.

agriculture uses a lot of the resources, whether they're water resources or land resources.

And we do need to feed everyone and feed everyone for a price that people can afford.

So how do we find a happy balance between all of those things?

And I think some of these services that animals can do can help create some of that balance.
