We did a recording of Christmas songs.
Nat King Cole versions here.
Well, not here, the old KUVO.
And Arturo was gracious enough to set it up really, really well for us.
I had Rene Marie come in.
We did a song together.
and Eric Gunnison on the piano.
We had a great time.
And I was fishing for songs because the book of Cole is vast.
Is it not?
At age 47, when he passed away, his discography was just it was wonderful.
A myriad of songs.
The big fun Christmas songs too.
I could be here for three hours doing Christmas songs based on Nat King Cole.
Arturoa Gomez, he came and said, you need to do this song.
I said, oh, here we go.
Now, we go back to Miami, he and I. So I gave him a little leeway and I said in a very polite and cordial way, which one?
And this is it.
And I'm glad he suggested it.

And he looked at it as it.

My mother would be across the room at him like this.

One time I remember, our cousin was staying with us from North Carolina.
She had a doll.
My younger brother accidentally put the doll in the box with the Tonka toy.
So we were busted.
Reached in to get a Tonka toy, and there was a doll.
My father looked at me with subdued anger, but love in his eyes, and he said, that's your Christmas present.

And the way he performed it was brilliant, wonderful.
And spicy.
And not taking away from his rendition of it, Nat King Cole got a hold of it.
Hmmm.
He smoothed it out a little bit.
Added a little bit of panache, and it became the standard vocal treatise of this song.
You know which one I'm talking about?
